What changes after installation
Lead and PFAS
A membrane rated for NSF/ANSI 58 reduces lead, PFAS, arsenic, nitrates and hundreds of dissolved contaminants.
Tastes like bottled water
Dissolved solids and disinfection byproducts are what make tap water taste flat or chemical. RO removes them.
Feeds the fridge too
We can tee the RO line to your refrigerator so ice and the water dispenser get the same quality.
Remineralized
An optional final stage adds calcium and magnesium back for taste and a neutral pH.
How it works

Sediment and carbon pre-filters protect the membrane from chlorine and grit.

Household pressure pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane; dissolved solids and metals stay behind and go to the drain.

Clean water is stored in a small pressurized tank (or produced on demand in tankless models).

A polishing carbon filter and optional remineralizer feed a dedicated faucet at the sink.
A good fit for

Not the right tool for
- Treating the whole house; RO produces a few gallons per hour, not enough for showers

Reverse Osmosis questions
Does reverse osmosis remove PFAS?
Yes. Reverse osmosis is one of the two methods EPA identifies as effective for PFAS in home water, and the systems we install are certified for PFOA and PFOS reduction.
Does RO waste water?
Older systems sent several gallons to the drain per gallon produced. Modern high-efficiency membranes run closer to one to one, and the total is small compared with a single shower.
How often do I change filters?
Pre and post filters once a year; the membrane every three to five years depending on your water. Filters take a few minutes to swap and we can do it as part of an annual service visit.
Can I add RO later if I start with the whole-home system?
Yes. Many customers start with whole-home softening and add RO later. Doing both at once is cheaper because the plumber is already on site.
