Hardness: about 8 to 20 grains per gallon
Limestone groundwater in the Frederick valley is commonly hard to very hard. A lab test is the only way to know your number. Anything above 7 grains per gallon is classified as hard. In practice that means scale on fixtures and shower glass, spotted dishes and mineral buildup inside water heaters and tankless units.

Community systems chlorinate; private wells are not disinfected unless you add treatment.

PFAS
Private wells are not monitored for PFAS. We include it in the lab panel when a well is near industrial or airport land.
Lead
Well water with low pH can corrode copper and solder. A lab test tells us whether a neutralizer is needed before anything else.
